I'm not sure if this has to do with last winter's heavy rainfall in southern California, but there has been a population explosion in my backyard. Virtually everywhere I look there are these black, grey, and yellow spiders. On a single day I counted more than a dozen of them. It's strange, I've never seen so many at one time. Its provided me with an excellent opportunity to take some interesting photos.
For these photos I used my trusty old Olypmus OM-1 with a Zuiko 75-150 zoom lens. I also made use of an Osawa close-up filter which allows me to get close to the subject. Pictures were all shot with Fuji 200 speed film.
